Based in the UK, the imprint became known for it's low key approach to releasing quality underground dance music - with no printed cover or label and track names etched into the run out grooves of the vinyl, each release was only distinguishable by a differently coloured logo stamp.
The series of 'White' sleeved releases ran until around 1997 and consisted of ten single twelve inch vinyl ep's, two double vinyl packs, a triple vinyl compilation and 'best of' CD release. From 1997 up until the year 2000 there followed the 'Grey' sleeved releases, producing a single twelve inch ep, one double pack and a C.D .
Schatrax was supported, listened to and regularly played by some of the world's most respected DJ's - Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Claude Young, Ritchie Hawtin, Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier to role call just a few - and the label soon built up a reputation for releasing original genre defying electronic music.
Fast forward to 2007 and www.Schatrax.com was started in answer to the continued demand for Schatrax music. Not only are the original classic Schatrax releases available for the first time in almost ten years but the new music from Schatrax Recordings is also readily accessible in both vinyl and digital formats in the Schatrax Member Area.
